Acute Respiratory Infection Rates
The vaccination programs in the UK for influenza appear to be having good effect this Winter season, with no hospital admissions across the UK for the last 14 days.
Whilst there has been a 68.3% uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine for the vulnerable and over 65’s, last week 2,064 patients were admitted into hospitals.
This represents a 10% increase from the week before, with 245 dying from the disease.
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases are on the rise, with a weekly positivity of 12.8%.
The availability of high-throughput, low-cost testing, as offered only by the Fast MDx platform, will enable healthcare providers to detect new disease outbreaks earlier and so help to control the spread of these endemic respiratory infections.
